Will’s Tough Mudder Challenge Cheque for Air Ambulance
Julia welcomed Richard Clutterbuck from Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance to receive a donation from the FHSA arising from Will’s assault on the Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle in May.
The course, half a marathon, is a real test of strength, agility and stamina. It also requires a courage bordering on madness in the face of some truly shocking obstacles – a feet first descent into a vast vat of filthy ice cold water and, once properly soaked through, a run through a cage of dangling electrified wires emitting a current powerful enough to fell a fully soaked man with one zap – and there are dozens and dozens of them hanging like tentacles from a giant jellyfish and they cannot all be dodged. It was a relief to see Will looking every bit as fit and well as we have come to know him, none the worse for the ordeal.
Julia reported that Will has become an integral part of the FHSA team and thanked him for making this challenge the focus of fund raising for the FHSA and Air Ambulance. He raised just shy of £1,000, a fantastic endeavour, and Will then presented Richard with a cheque for £470.00.
Hunter Trial 25th September
The F.H.S.A. Hunter Trial held at Limepits Farm, Illston on the Hill was a great day.
264 competitors went round the beautiful course. Lovely cakes and yummy bacon rolls from the catering tent and a great fun atmosphere made the day a real success. The sunshine even made an appearance, albeit with some very strong winds, but this did not detract from the fun of the event.
The Hunter Trial committee would like to thank all of our very kind volunteers for helping out on the day, be that as fence judges, collecting ring stewards, starters, commentators, timers…the list goes on and on. Thank you.
Thank you also to Richard and Dot Clowes and their summer grazing tenants for kindly hosting the Hunter Trial again this year.
Fernie Team Chase 2016
27th March 2016
Natalie Painter presenting the Best Fernie Team prize in the Inter Hunt Class to Victoria (and Imogen!) Cowen and Lucy Walker – Hugh Buxton and Oscar Briggs were missing, presumably in the beer tent – of the Fernie Flyers Team. The outright class winners by a hefty four seconds were Joss Hanbury’s Quorn Burley Blazers 11.
The Open Class was won by Team Ride Away 1, whose time of 4 mins 31 secs put them three seconds clear of Fox Grant Dot Com.
The Novice Optimum Time class was won by the Wobbley Worcesters and the Novice Speed Section by The Also Borings.
The Art Hotel Racers took first prize in the RoR Class.
